    • Hi there,

I understand the frustration of having your card chip not read by the EFT machine. Here are a few things you can try:

**Test at an ATM:** Sometimes EFT machines have issues reading chips. Try using your card at an ATM to see if the chip works there. If it does, the problem might be with the specific EFT machine.

**Check for Damage:** Visually inspect your card for any damage to the chip, like cracks or scratches. If you see any damage, you’ll need to replace your card.

**Try the Magnetic Strip:** Most SASSA cards also have a magnetic strip on the back. If the chip isn’t working, try swiping the magnetic strip at the EFT machine.

**Contact SASSA:** If none of the above solutions work, it’s best to contact SASSA directly. You can call their helpline at 0800 53 54 55 or visit your nearest SASSA office. Explain the issue with your card chip and they will advise you on the replacement process.

      **Replacing your card:**

      * SASSA will likely ask you to visit a local office to replace your card. There might be a small fee associated with the replacement.

      * When applying for a replacement, bring your ID document and proof of residence.

      I hope this helps!
